Lawrence Patra, who played the role of Joe, said they “really worked really hard to prepare for the role and we had an opportunity to do it”.
“I can’t wait to get back into it and hopefully I’ll bring a really strong performance to it,” added Patra.
Mason, a New Zealand international, was not expected to play in the first Test, which was played on Thursday and Friday while weather restrictions limited the number of people who could be at the MCG for all six matches.
He did take part in the second Test on Sunday at The Oval, appearing with Patra and former internationals John Cowan-Dickie, Peter Siddle and Matt Prior.
The match drew a crowd of almost 15,000 and was described as a massive success.
“Overall I think this is very rewarding for a lot of people because it was a successful night,” said Patra.
“We got the crowd on board and gave some great entertainment and it was excellent to have the opportunity for Mason to play in that first Test game.
“The crowd support was something the whole team relished; there was a fantastic vibe of support all around the ground. We wanted to give it a go tonight and if it pays off we’re going to be happy and in good shape.”
